Samsung Electronics America is proud to announce the commencement of the 2007 Hope
for Education program and would like to invite you to participate in this school scholarship
opportunity. Samsung's Hope for Education is an educational and philanthropic program
designed to minimize the technology gap that exists in today's educational system. Through
a partnership with Microsoft Corporation, this program will provide more than $2 million in
technology and software to K-12 schools in the U.S. that enter an essay competition
answering the question: "What is the single most significant benefit that technology can provide in the classroom?" The program, in its 4th year, is a demonstration of the company's
commitment to making a difference in the lives of children and youth in supporting education
and technology in schools nationwide.
Any school can enter by submitting a 100-word essay at www.hopeforeducation.com for the
opportunity to win the grand prize of $200,000 or one of 30 first prizes of $60,000 in
Samsung technology and Microsoft software. The technology prizes include Samsung's
latest, award-winning products, such as Plasma, LCD, and DLP High Definition Televisions;
Ultra Mobile PCs; Smart Phones; digital camcorders; DVD players/recorders, LCD computer
monitors, color printers and Microsoft's latest, award-winning software, such as Microsoft
Student, Encarta, Office, etc. In addition the person who submits a winning entry on behalf
will be awarded a Samsung Ultra Mobile PC with Windows Vista.
Since its inception, Samsung Hope for Education has been supported by athletes, celebrities
and corporations. This year, rising teen music stars, Aly and AJ will join us to help raise
awareness and bring hope to students across the country. For the first time, Samsung is
expanding the program to the Spanish-speaking Hispanic community who can enter their
essays in Spanish through Samsung's Hope for Education Web site.
Students, teachers, school faculty, administrators and even community members are
welcome to enter a school for a chance to win this remarkable gift. Through this contest we
wish to encourage and inspire our future leaders to strive and achieve their goals while
providing them with the best in technology and educational resources in their lives.
