ALTERNATIVE PUNISHMENT

In administering discipline, consideration should be given to alternative methods of punishment to insure that the most effective discipline is administered in each case. In all disciplinary action, the administration should be mindful of the fact that they are dealing with individual personalities. The administration should consider consultation with parents on disciplinary measures that might prove most effective in particular instances.

Alternate methods of punishments and code numbers:

3.....................Remove from class or group (temporary or permanent)
4.....................Parental Conference
5.....................In-School detention (noon)
6.....................After-School detention
7.....................In-School detention 8:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. for each minute late student must make up next day.
8.....................Review committee-composed of teachers who know the student and who will review the record and render a written recommendation
9.......................Corporal punishment
10.....................Financial restitution
11.....................Involve law enforcement
12.....................Refer to other social agencies
13.....................Probationary period
14.....................Suspension (short-term: 10 days or less)
15.....................Long term suspension (long-term: more than 10 days).Follow due process
16.....................Any other disciplinary action deemed appropriate under the circumstance
17.....................Special Saturday School session
18.....................Referral to Counselor
19.....................Behavioral Contract
